BEAU KELLAM
My name is Beau Kellam, and I have a strong passion for every type of creation, from photography to graphic design and to nature. I specifically have a passion for the built environment. After seeing my uncle working on architecture as a young elementary student, the passion for architecture has been with me my whole life. I went on to study Environmental Design with an emphasis in Architecture at the University of Colorado at Boulder. While studying there, I received a rich background in leadership, team work, and hands-on design work.
The appeal of architecture to me, is the affect it has on the lives of the users--creating an opportunity to change the world. My design philosophy was greatly impacted by my time spent in Rome, Italy. I studied architecture at the ACCENT Study Center for four months. While in Rome, my team was a semi-finalist in the Art-Urbain International Design Competition in Paris, France, for our evaluation of the Porta Portese district. It was an incredible opportunity to study the architectural roots, and typologies of design that are still used today. I believe that form should follow function, and that is evident in medieval architecture. Designs should try to optimize the lives of every user by having its roots in the current culture, while striving to push forward to make a better society.
Architecture has become a deep passion of mine; one I wish to share with the world. I am currently an architectural intern, with the aspiration of becoming a licensed architect one day. I learn more everyday, and I use that knowledge to refine my own beliefs and designs. Thank you for stopping by my portfolio website. I hope that you can see a small part of my appreciation for design and creation.
